Studio Milestone Photo Shoot for an Adorable One-Year-Old Girl
At one year old, babies are incredibly photogenic, excitable, and inquisitive. Their curiosity ensures that nothing escapes their attention. After newborn photo sessions, one-year milestone photo shoots are the second most requested baby photo shoots.
CHOICE OF SHOOT & SETTING THE TONE
The key is to keep it timeless and true to the baby’s character. Mom C wanted images similar to those we took two years earlier of her older child when she turned one.
My Somerset West studio, with its all-white decor, is ideal for light and soft photo sessions. The studio was warmed up, and we placed a single white posing block on a shaggy white cotton rug. Before each session, I ensure the rug is clean and fluffy.
Wooden baby-safe toys and noise makers are close at hand to grab attention if needed. A large softbox with my Westcott TD6 Spider light stands on one side, with a V-flat on the other, forming an enclosed area for optimal lighting.
Bubbly Little E arrived well-rested after her mid-day nap. She was super excited by the many new items in the studio. I invited E into my “house,” and she immediately began exploring, holding onto the block with her little hands. We played and chatted throughout the short session. Like all one-year-olds, she became intrigued by the texture of the rug. We ended with heartwarming images of her in her mum’s arms.
